The First Spark
It all began in Year 9 during a computer science lesson, where I was introduced to the world of websites. What wasn’t just another lesson for me was the first time my work was displayed on the internet—and that moment completely changed my perspective. I was amazed by how my creation was now visible to the entire world, and that feeling stuck with me. It became clear that I wanted to pursue something in web development.
Starting the Journey
As soon as that lesson ended, I dove headfirst into learning how to build websites. I spent hours searching for tutorials and experimenting with various mini projects—everything from web applications to e-commerce stores. By the time I was 14, I started a small company called Edge Developing, offering websites to businesses in need. While the sales were few, the experience was invaluable, teaching me the importance of persistence and honing my skills.
Shifting Focus to Digital Marketing
At 16, I shifted gears and launched My Social Goals in July 2023, originally starting as a social media marketing agency (SMMA) offering ads for businesses. I tried targeting multiple industries but struggled to land clients—until I decided to work with home improvement companies. While I initially didn’t get any clients, the experience helped me realise that I wasn’t truly passionate about just following a trend. I wasn’t enjoying the work.
Reconnecting with My Strengths
That’s when I had an epiphany. I looked back at my journey and realised I had a unique skill set in building websites—not in creating ads. So, I decided to reconnect with my roots and offer home improvement companies a better website solution instead of trying to push ads. This pivot led to my first client, and things started to click.
The Turning Point
At a networking event, I met Chris Hazell Mortgages, and everything changed. I started working with him, creating a strong online presence with a high-converting website and automating his tasks. This allowed him to focus on growing his business and serving his clients without getting bogged down by time-consuming admin tasks. The work we did together became a defining moment for My Social Goals, and I realised that mortgage brokers could benefit from the solutions I was developing.
Narrowing the Focus
After some trial and error with different industries, I found my niche with mortgage brokers. I wanted to create solutions that would simplify their workflow, improve their online presence, and help prevent burnout through automation. The more I worked with mortgage brokers, the more I saw how much they needed help managing their administrative tasks and keeping their websites up-to-date and high-converting.
Developing a Unique Solution
Today, My Social Goals is the only agency offering this specialised service: helping mortgage brokers prevent burnout by automating their time-consuming tasks while providing them with a professional, high-converting website. I now focus on streamlining their processes, so they can focus on growing their business and serving their clients.
Looking Ahead
It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m just getting started. My Social Goals has evolved from a simple web development hobby to a dedicated service aimed at helping mortgage brokers thrive. I’m excited to continue refining my solutions, expanding my client base, and offering even more ways to prevent burnout and create success.
